Variable Area Flowmeter

Variable area flow meters provide inexpensive, but effective solutions for engineers. They are easy to install and give accurate readings in a variety of environments.

Due to their construction, variable area flow meters can be installed vertically, horizontally or even upside down. These devices do not require straight piping on either end of the connection. Once in place, an engineer can get a measurement within 2.5 percent, without the need for any external equipment.

Variable Area Flow Meters Handle Many Substances

Due to weather-sealed construction, variable area flow meters may be used in outside systems or those that require a complete wash down. They are available in aluminum, brass and stainless steel constructions to meet different engineering requirements. Some constructions can handle up to 6000 PSI of pressure and rates of 150 GPM.

Variable area flow meters are available in different ports, which limit the amount of connectors needed to add them to a system. These units can be combined with switch and alarm technology to simplify system management further. By setting off an alarm when fluid volume goes outside of system requirements, these controllers can help protect more expensive equipment. Variable area flow meters, alarms and controllers are small enough that they can be used to measure the lubricant and coolant flow on vehicles.
